Heather Proctor, M.A., L.M.H.C.

Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor #MH13422

Peace River Psychology Center | Port Charlotte

Heather Proctor is a licensed mental health counselor for children, adolescents, and adults. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Southern College in Chattanooga, Tennessee and her Master of Arts in Community Counseling at Andrews University in Michigan. She has resided in Port Charlotte, Florida for over twenty years.

After completing her Master’s Level internship for the Juvenile Justice System, she worked for a Department of Children and Families for nearly five years. For almost nine years, she was a therapist in a psychiatric inpatient setting.

Heather practices integrative supportive counseling where persons can look at past patterns, present perceptions, and explore options for a more positive outlook and future. Heather has special interests in the effects of birth order, Myers Briggs personality types, and the “Five Love Languages” style of relating written by Gary Chapman. Heather enjoys play therapy with children, helping adolescents make positive life choices, and providing support to adults meeting occupational, relationship, and health challenges.

Heather currently facilitates a weekly grief and loss outpatient support group which is open to anyone who has experienced any type of loss. While life is full of changes and loss, group therapy can help those suffering to receive comfort from others who understand and care.
