Dr. Suzanne Spross

Suzanne Spross, Ph.D., CAC is a psychologist originally from New York. She has 30 years of clinical experience providing mental health services in a variety of settings, with adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Dr. Spross received her M.S. in counselor education from Fordham University in 1982, entering the addiction treatment field at that time. In 1994, she attained her Certified Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CAC) credential.

In 1999 she achieved her doctorate in counseling psychology at New York University. During that period she had a private practice in the Greenwich Village section of New York City and consulted for various agencies.

From 1994 to 2002 she was a member of the NYS Division on Addictions Executive Committee and was part of that group’s continuing education seminars. In 2007 she and a colleague published an article in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs on the blending of mental health and addiction treatment. Dr. Spross happily relocated to Florida in 2013.

Dr. Spross has experience helping patients with issues of depression, trauma, addiction and codependency, and loss and bereavement. She considers her work to be based upon an eclectic mix of theories and methods, but relies on fundamental therapeutic values such as respect, acceptance, empathy, insight, humor, self-awareness, and “the pursuit of happiness.” She has an affinity for nature, swimming, movies, tennis and King Charles Spaniels. .
